Privacy
ontown is a public calendar of events. Browsing it needs no account and we keep no profile of visitors.
What we store
When you sign in with Google we store your name and email address, so we know which events are yours. We never see your Google password. Events you post are public by design, including the organizer name and links you provide.
When an app such as ChatGPT or Claude connects to ontown on your behalf, we store a token that lets that app search events and post events in your name until you disconnect it. The app never receives your Google credentials.
Automatic processing
New events are checked for spam by an automated model, and if you paste an announcement or ask for a poster, that text is sent to OpenAI to be processed. It is not used to train their models.
Cookies
We use one session cookie to keep you signed in and one to protect forms. There is no advertising and no third-party analytics.
How long we keep data
Your account (name and email) is kept while you use ontown and deleted on request. Events stay public after they happen, as an archive, until their author or we remove them. Connection tokens for apps such as ChatGPT expire after 24 hours and are renewed only while the app is in use; they are deleted when you disconnect the app. Text sent to OpenAI for spam checks, announcement parsing or posters is not stored by us beyond the result, and OpenAI keeps API data for at most 30 days for abuse monitoring.
Your rights
You can edit or delete your events at any time from My events. To see, export or delete everything we hold about you, including your account, write to [email protected]. Deletion requests are completed within 30 days.
Sharing
We do not sell or share personal data. Public event details are available to anyone, including through calendar feeds, link previews and AI assistants connected by their users. OpenAI processes text as described above as our service provider.
