What happens when a million decisions cost less than pizza? Description: In the 19th century, William Stanley Jevons noticed something strange: the less coal steam machines consumed, the more coal the world burned. History is repeating itself, only instead of coal we have AI, and instead of steam machines our applications. In September TypeSafe AI showed Jev, a model named just in honor of Jevons, who does not generate the text at all. Instead, he makes decisions: chooses, evaluates and responds yes/no, while giving how sure he is. The Internet immediately did with him what the Internet does best: told him to play Pokémony, play chess, cut down sponsors from YouTube, hide spoilers in comments, build a town of 10,000 virtual residents outraged by every post, and while waking DevOpsów on-call only when something really burns.
